Abstract

This paper highlights how language proficiency benefits electrical engineers in various professional aspects. It is an informative and educational descriptive proposal that addresses the importance of mastering other languages in the personal and professional development of students and teachers. Empirical data collection methods were used, such as document analysis, participant observation in the teaching-learning process, and semi-structured interviews.  It was possible to verify that the training of electrical engineers takes place in a context shaped by globalization in the power sector, where there is a need for multilingual communication in international collaboration projects, access to knowledge, technical documentation in multiple languages, work in multicultural teams, business and funding opportunities, technology transfer, and the use of digital tools. Language is reaffirmed as a transversal instrument and catalyst for personal and professional growth in the field of electrical engineering.
