Procedimiento para la gestión ambiental del ecosistema de manglar del municipio “Frank País”

Abstract

This research details the design of an innovative and adaptable procedure for the environmental management of the mangrove ecosystem in the municipality of Frank País, Holguín province.Aware of the inherent constraints of a municipality with limited resources, the proposal focuses on a participatory and sustainable practical approach led by a team of university professors in close collaboration with local communities.The procedure articulates simplified monitoring actions using accessible technology and citizen science to assess mangrove health, community conservation, ecological restoration with local inputs to rehabilitate degraded areas, and ongoing contextualized Environmental Education programs that link ecosystem protection with sustainable livelihoods.Its objective is to establish an accessible and replicable tool for strategic planning and decision-making, ensuring sustainable management that preserves biodiversity, strengthens coastal protection, contributes to climate resilience and maintains the essential ecosystem services provided by mangroves.The crucial role of the Academy as a catalyst for knowledge, facilitator of local capacities and mobilizer of community action is emphasized to ensure the effectiveness and permanence of the procedure.With a comprehensive approach and supported by theoretical and empirical methods that serve as a basis for designing adaptive interventions, the proposal demonstrates that the effective management of critical ecosystems is possible through social innovation, strategic use of limited resources and local empowerment, positioning itself as a reference for regions with similar challenges.
