This article reveals the relationship between education, culture, and cultural identity as communicative processes in the university context. It presents a theoretical systematization based on categories such as the heritage values of tradition bearers and two configurational cross-cutting ones. At the same time, it offers a set of ways to work on the heritage values of tradition bearers in the university education process. These are realized in identity-building activities, in both their teaching and non-teaching forms. Therefore, the objective of this contribution is to enhance the development of cultural identity through the heritage values of tradition bearers among students in the Preschool Education program at the Sagua de Tánamo Municipal University Center, in the province of Holguín, Cuba. For this purpose, a mixed methodology was used, which made it possible to determine that there are deficiencies at the cognitive, affective and evaluative-attitudinal levels, concerning the knowledge of the most genuine elements of the traditions, identity and heritage of the local university sociocultural context, although the results warn of the students' willingness to learn through Information and Communication Technologies, which shows that cyberspace, cyberculture and digital identity are emerging as expeditious spaces to delve into pedagogical, anthropological and socio-communicative work in the current university context.
