Abstract

The training of competent professionals is a demand for current Cuban Higher Education. In this sense, agronomist professionals, must carry out efficient management of the processes that are developed in the agricultural production systems with the use of extension, research and marketing techniques to face the new challenges that impose the development of science and technique. English language learning is assumed from a communicative approach with general profile issues. Which means that English for professional purposes is delegated to the background. From theoretical, empirical studies and the insufficiencies detected in educational practice, the elaboration of a system of learning activities was proposed to favor the development of reading comprehension in English for professional purposes of third year students, of the Agronomist Engineering career, of the Frank País Municipal University Center. During the development of research, methods and techniques of theoretical and empirical levels were used, such as analysis-synthesis, interviews, surveys. The results obtained corroborated evidence in favor of the application of the proposal, which favored the development of the reading comprehension of english of the students of said career, as well as the motivation towards the subject.
